The Worms and Dirt dessert is a great party dessert that will be sure to thrill both adults and children of all ages.

The Worms and dirt dessert is a tasty dish that has as much to offer visually as it does in taste. Take the extra effort to create this one of a kind dessert masterpiece and you will impress everyone else at the party.

Ingredients for the Worms and Dirt Dessert

In order to make worms and dirt, you will need a plastic flower pot that has no hole. Although you do not need one that is big enough to put a bush in, you will need one big enough for a large house plant in order to have enough room for the dessert. You will also need a single silk flower with a long stem.

In order to make the dessert, you will need:

  • One 8 ounce tub of cream cheese
  • One quarter cup butter
  • One cup sugar
  • Two packets of instant vanilla pudding mix
  • A 12 ounce tub of cool whip
  • Three and a half cups of milk
  • One large bag of Oreo Cookies.

How to Make Worms and Dirt

Mix the butter, sugar and cream cheese together in one bowl. Set this bowl aside for use later. Now in a separate bowl, mix together the vanilla pudding mix and milk together. Once this mixture has become thick, take a large spoon and fold in the cool whip. Now, mix both mixtures together in one bowl and stir well.

Put the Oreos in a blender or food processor to crush the cookies. If you do not have either a blender or food processor, you can place the cookies in a plastic bag and crush them with a mallet. Once the cookies are in crumbs, you can begin to assemble your dessert.

You are going to layer the cookie crumbs and pudding mixture in the flower pot. Start with the cookie crumbs, which acts as dirt. Make sure to leave enough cookie crumbs to top the dessert off with plenty of dirt as well, to round out the picture. You can add gummy worms into the flower pot as you layer in the dessert. Place a few gummy worms on top as well, and stick the silk flower in the pot to complete the look. Remove the flower before serving.

This dessert should be kept cold before serving. If you want to get creative with your serving, you can purchase a new (and clean) garden shovel to serve the dessert to each guest. You may also be able to find a cheap plastic garden shovel to serve the dessert with.

This dessert goes great with an easy slow cook ham dinner.
