Cocoa Frosting Recipe
You can make this frosting soft enough so that it will run down the sides of the cake or you can make it stick by adding more sugar for a stiffer frosting.
Cocoa Frosting Ingredients
- 4 T Cocoa
- 2 T Cold Water
- 3 T Hot Water
- 1/2 t Vanilla
- Few Grains Salt
- 1 3/4 cups Powdered Sugar
Directions For Making Cocoa Frosting
- In saucepan, blend the cocoa and cold water together until they are lump free. Add the hot water and blend until smooth again. Cook over low heat for one minute. Remove from the heat.
- Add the vanilla and the bit of salt. Blend thoroughly.
- Add the sugar gradually until you reach the consistency that you desire and the mixture is spreadable. Continue beating until the frosting is glossy and smooth.
Cocoa Sauce Recipe
This cocoa sauce is versatile and can be used for adding chocolate flavor to your favorite desserts.
Cocoa Sauce Ingredients
- 2 T Unsalted Butter
- 2 T Flour
- 4 T Cocoa
- 1 cup Boiling Water
- 4 T Sugar
- 1 t Vanilla
Directions For Making Cocoa Sauce
- Bring water to a boil.
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan.
- Blend the flour and cocoa into the melted butter.
- Add the boiling water to the butter mixture gradually. Stir in and then beat the mixture for 1 - 2 minutes. Set aside to thicken and cool.
- Right before serving when the mixture is cool, add the sugar, vanilla and a few grains of salt if necessary.
Hot Cocoa Sauce Recipe
You can use this delicious hot cocoa sauce on ice cream, puddings, cakes and any other dessert that you think would be complemented by it.
Hot Cocoa Sauce Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup Boiling Water
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 T Arrowroot Flour or Cornstarch
- 2 T Cocoa
- Few Grains Salt
- 1 t Vanilla
Directions For Making Hot Cocoa Sauce
- In one cup, dissolve the arrowroot flour or the cornstarch in a spoon or two of cold water. In another cup, dissolve the cocoa in a spoon or two of hot water. Do not use so much water that it affects that texture of the sauce. You just want to make sure the dry ingredients are wet and a bit liquid enough so that they will blend well with the other ingredients and not lump up in your sauce.
- In a small saucepan, add the boiling water and the sugar. Boil for one minute.
- Add the wet arrowroot flour or cornstarch to the water/sugar mixture and stir. Boil this until the mixture is clear.
- Add the wet cocoa and salt to the mixture and boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Add the vanilla, just before serving.
