A Sampler of Fondue Recipes That Will Please Every Taste

New to fondue? Here you can sample the best in fondue dessert recipes. Try the rich caramel and pecan fondue or the health conscious but tasty berry fondue.

All Recipes generally serve 4 to 6 people. You can also make fondue recipes the night before and refrigerate. Simply reheat fondue mixture in covered saucepan on low before transferring to fondue pot.

Recipe for Chocolate Fondue

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 12 ounces finely chopped bitter or semisweet chocolate
  • Optional 1 tbsp of either Cognac, liquer, or brandy (flavored liqueur or brandy is fine)

Directions:

  1. Simmer cream in a medium sized saucepan
  2. Slightly lower heat and add the chocolate
  3. Soften chocolate in cream until thoroughly melted
  4. Add the optional Cognac, liqueur or brandy and whisk until smooth and creamy
  5. Transfer to fondue pot

Serving Suggestions:

Serve with cubes of pound, angle food cakes, or sugar biscuits

banana slices, apple kiwi chunks, pear chunks, grapes, whole strawberries

Almost any kind of fruit works well with this classic chocolate fondue

Caramel and Pecan Fondue Recipe

The ingredients in this recipe are reminiscent of a chocolate turtle candy.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup corn syrup
  • 1 ½ cups of heavy cream
  • 3 tbsps of either rum or Cognac (optional ingredient)
  • 1/3 to ½ cup of finely chopped pecans

Directions:

  1. Warm butter, sugars and corn syrup in a medium non-stick saucepan until the butter has melted and the sugars have dissolved
  2. Increase heat to medium high and bring the mixture to a low boil
  3. Let boil for approximately 5 minutes, stirring occasionally
  4. Add the heavy cream, and heat for an extra 5 minutes, stirring occasionally
  5. Stir in the optional Rum or Cognac
  6. Stir in all of the pecans but 1 tsp for garnish on top of fondue pot
  7. Transfer to fondue pot and garnish

Serving Suggestions:

Cubes of pound cake, angel type food cakes, sugary biscuits, or most fruits

Berry Fondue Recipe

  • 1 ½ pounds of fresh or frozen berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.)
  • ¼ to ½ cup of sugar

Directions:

  1. Thaw frozen berries
  2. Place berries in a food processor or blender and puree until smooth
  3. If you don't care for seeds, pass the puree through cheesecloth or a strainer
  4. Transfer to saucepan and add sugar, heating until sugar is dissolved
  5. Add to fondue pot

Serving Suggestions:

Serve with cubes of pound, angle food cakes, or sugar biscuits

Peanut Butter Fondue

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup Peanut Butter
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • 3 tbsps butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup corn syrup
  • ¼ cup brown sugar

Directions:

  1. Mix brown sugar, corn syrup, and butter together
  2. Transfer to small saucepan and heat on low for 5 minutes while stirring
  3. Add peanut butter and evaporated milk
  4. Continue stirring until all ingredients are melted and smooth
  5. Stir in the vanilla, mixing well
  6. Transfer to fondue pot

Option: Swirl in a bit of chocolate sauce

Serving Suggestions:

Serve with cubes of chocolate pound or angel food cake

You can also be creative with making your own dessert fondues. Use any type of 16 ounce prepared frosting mix, such as cherry or cream cheese. Simply heat the frosting mix and ¼ to ½ cup of heavy cream over low heat and transfer to fondue pot.

Try heating 1 16 ounce cartoon of coconut pecan frosting with heavy cream and serving with chunks of German chocolate cake. Excellent!
